As of the night of January 22nd, our very own L649 Vice President, Michelle Oulton was elected as 2nd Vice President of Timmins & District Labour Council and there were a few items from the January 22, 2025 meeting that she would like to share:
- Day of Mourning is April 28th every year and we are encouraged to share news of a ceremony that takes place every year at 11:00 am at the Miners Memorial in Schumacher. This is ceremony is always organized by the Timmins & District Labour Council, and is often attended by the Mayor, MPPs, and often Charlie Angus! This event touches the lives of all workers so mark your calendar & spread the word – we would love to see you out there this year!
- A reminder that donations to political parties will qualify you for a tax credit:
$0 and $400 – 75% back in tax credits
$400 and $750 – $300 plus 50% of any amount over $400
Over $750 – $475 plus 33.33% per cent of any amount over $750 up to a maximum of $650 per year
- Timmins & District Labour Council, in partnership with Canadian Labour Council, welcomes any interested members to register for “Organizing & Political Action Conference” ! This in-person event will be on Saturday March 29th from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm & lunch will be provided. It’s free of charge and aims to prepare members to get involved in the upcoming Federal Election!
