Correctional Bargaining Update – OPSEU

LEC_local_649

On November 25, 2023, OPSEU/SEFPO’s Correctional Bargaining Team and the employer held the arbitration session with arbitrator William Kaplan. In addition to the previously submitted written briefs, the parties presented their oral arguments on their positions. The arbitrator had no further questions after the oral presentations and concluded the hearing.

We are waiting for the written decision of the arbitrator. This decision will be final and binding, and there will be no ratification vote.

At this time, we do not know when the decision will be released, but the arbitrator did indicate that he will get the decision out as quickly as possible. Once the arbitrator’s decision is released, we will forward it to Correctional Bargaining Unit members along with the arbitration briefs of the union and employer.

In solidarity,

Janet Laverty, Bargaining Team Chair
Adam Cygler, Bargaining Team Vice-Chair
